The course starts week 39 and ends week 51. We will meet five times in Adobe Connect Pro (ACP). There will be collaboration during the course in the form of discussions and comments on blog posts, this is why the deadlines on the blog posts are important. Attendance during the discussions in ACP is also required to complete the course. You find the learning goals on Åbo Akademi University’s web page.

Once you have written your two blog posts and commented on at least 10 other posts collect links to the blog posts and comments and send them to Charlotta Hilli, chilli@abo.fi. If you completed the course you will receive your credits in STURE at the end of January 2018 due to the holiday season.

Week 39–41, Introduction

Week 48–49, Second blog post on teaching and assessment

In your second blog post you will develop a course. Your first task is to define learning goals, and skills or competencies that are important for students to learn. Remember to argue why they are important. Your second task is to present teaching methods where you interact with students and support their learning process. Finally, you are to present methods for successfully assessing the learning goals.

You can use a course that you teach, or a course that you have taken part in as a student. The interesting thing is to develop the course to a student-centered one with clear learning goals and a variation of methods that support them, as well as a range of assessment methods that you can rely on when grading their learning.

Include at least four scientific references on teaching and assessment preferably in your field. Use a reference system of your choice. Words: 300–500.

Week 49–50, Mentoring in higher education and blog activity

Depending on which group you chose to attend there is a third small group meeting. You find the assignment and materials here.

Please read and update your blog post and take time to reply to and thank those who commented on it. Comment on at least five blog posts and focus on the content (not grammar). Give constructive feedback or feed forward as some choose to call it. Highlight one thing the author should consider changing and explain why.
